【摘要】:Thetestingofsewersforleaksisaregularpracticenecessaryforthemaintenanceandoptimalperformanceofsewercollectionsystemssoremedialactioncanbeprioritized,designed,andcarriedouttoreduceinfiltrationandexfiltration.Thispracticeservesasameanstodetectandlocatealltypesofpipedefectsthatarepotentialsourcesofwaterleakseitherintooroutofelectricallynon-conductingpipes.Leakingjointsanddefectiveserviceconnectionsaredetectedthatoftenmaynotshowasadefectwhenviewedfrominsidethepipe.Theelectro-scandatamaybeprocessedandanalyzedtoprovidesomeinformationonthesizeandtypeofpipedefect.(8.4.1)Thispracticeappliestomainlineandlateralgravityflowstormsewers,sanitarysewers,andcombinedsewersfabricatedfromelectricallynon-conductingmaterialwithdiametersbetween3and60in.(75and1500mm).Thepipesmustbefreeofobstructionsthatpreventthesondepassingthroughthepipe.1.1Thispracticecoversproceduresforusingtheelectro-scanmethodtodetectandlocatepotentialpipeleakdefectsthatarepotentialsourcesofleaksinpipesfabricatedfromelectricallynonconductivematerialsuchasplastic,clay,andconcrete(reinforcedandnon-reinforced).Theelectro-scanmethodusesthevariationofelectriccurrentflowthroughthepipewalltolocatedefectsthatarepotentialwaterleakagepathseitherintooroutofthepipe.1.2Thispracticeappliestomainlineandlateralgravityflowstormsewers,sanitarysewers,andcombinedsewerswithdiametersbetween3and60in.(75and1500mm).Thepipesmustbefreeofobstructionsthatpreventthesondepassingthroughthepipe.1.3Theuseoftheelectro-scanrequiresaccesstosewers,fillingsewers,andoperationsalongroadwaysthataresafetyhazards.Thisstandarddoesnotdescribethehazardslikelytobeencounteredorthesafetyproceduresthatmustbecarriedoutwhenoperatinginthesehazardousenvironments.()Therearenosafetyhazardsspecificallyassociatedwiththeuseofanelectro-scanapparatusthatcomplieswiththespecificationsprovidedinthisstandard.(and.)1.4Theuseofelectro-scanrequirestheinsertionofvariousitemsintoasewer.Thereisalwaysariskthatduetounknownstructuralconditionsinthesewersuchitemsmaybecomelodgedinthepipeormaycausethestateofasewerinpoorstructuralconditiontofurtherdeteriorate.Thisstandarddoesnotdescribemethodstoassessthestructuralriskofasewer.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch/poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesandtodeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
